Please join us for this annual holiday tradition with a gift in honor of someone special. With the gift of a Light, a Wish or a Star, you can help make a difference for the patients served at WakeMed!
For over 30 years, members of our community have supported the programs and services at WakeMed with a Love Light Tree gift. These gifts are a great way to give back to your community while remembering a loved one or honoring a special relative, child, friend, neighbor, physician, nurse or colleague.
We invite you to honor or remember as many loved ones as you like by naming a Light or Star in their honor to help light our Love Light Tree. The names of the loved ones you wish to recognize will be placed on a special recognition page on the website, and a gift acknowledgement card will be mailed to your recipient(s) as notification of your generous gift.
Gifts can be made online by completing the information below. If you would prefer to mail in a donation, please mail it to the WakeMed Foundation, 3000 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27610.
About Love Light Tree
The Love Light Tree tradition started in 1985 with the generosity of Dr. Bill and Colleen Lee, who donated the first Love Light Tree in memory of their son, Matthew William Lee (March 5, 1979 – November 26, 1984). Today, the tradition continues throughout the year as Love Light Tree donations are made in honor or memory of someone special. Each year, the tree is lit by one of WakeMed's former pediatric patients. This year’s family is the Baxley family. Meet the Baxley's and their beautiful daughter in this uplifting video.
Lighting the Love Light Tree & Trim the Tree with Twinkle
This year's Love Light Tree ceremony will take place in the WakeMed Raleigh Campus courtyard on December 5, 2016 at 6 pm.
Following the ceremony, join us for Trim the Tree with Twinkle. This festive event will include hot cocoa, holiday crafts, ornament making and pictures with Santa. Plus, help us decorate a tree that will be displayed in the WakeMed Children’s Hospital.
Free parking is available in the P1 Visitor Parking Deck. Both events are free! No registration is required.
