Who We Are
The WakeMed Foundation is the charitable arm of the WakeMed health system. Formed in 1994, the Foundation is governed by an unpaid, volunteer Board of Directors consisting of 30 members. More than 100 volunteers actively participate in fundraising and cultivation activities to support the WakeMed Foundation.
As members of the WakeMed Foundation, we play an integral role in many projects; however, our long-term goals are:
- to expand our network of philanthropists, giving them the chance to join forces with other like-minded business and community leaders who want to play an active, positive role in providing access to health care in Wake County and the surrounding communities
- to increase our investments and donations on an annual basis, which enables us to make an even greater impact on the scope and range of medical services offered throughout WakeMed Health & Hospitals, and
- to provide donors with a wide variety of ways in which they can offer their support, including leadership opportunities, in-kind gifts, and financial resources.
The word ‘philanthropy’ means the love of humanity. At the heart of the WakeMed Foundation philanthropist, there is deep need to care for, nourish, develop, and enhance the human condition. Our staff shares your passion for philanthropy, and we’re committed to making your charitable experience both simple and fulfilling.
This governing body of the WakeMed Foundation is composed of the area’s top business executives, legal minds and health care leaders who give their time and expertise to help raise funds, friends and future leaders for WakeMed.
